20 Random Facts About Me

I have to do the random facts page. The random facts page is always one of my favorite pages on a blog, as I feel it helps me get to know the writer.

  1. I come from a family of six. There is my Mom, Dad, two Sisters, Me, and Brother. Our family probably has some of the most interesting and potentially the most awkward conversations on holidays. People either love or hate attending them.
  2. I grew up on a dairy farm, and my parents and brother are still in operation. Dairy farming is hard. Growing up, I thought it was the WORSE. Now that I am older and wiser, I wish my children could grow up the same way. It teaches you such incredible values and can bring a family together. As I heard it once and genuinely feel, farming is a lifestyle, not a career. It runs in you.
  3. French Fries are probably my favorite food, followed by hamburgers and pickles. I do not typically indulge in the french fries as I follow a ketogenic lifestyle.
  4. I love to work out, most specifically, lift weights. Pushing 800 – 1,000-pound bales, yes you read that right, will do that to you. I had some crazy muscles in high school.
  5. I am afraid of drowning and refuse to be on a boat where I cannot see the shore. But I love to be out on a boat in the lake in the summertime. We live in the land of 100,000 lakes, after all.
  6. I love non-fiction, historical, and self-help books. I go through phases where I will read a ton of books and then nothing.
  7. I LOVE music – almost all types (even polka). We always have radio’s going in our house – shout out to #KCHK, which plays it all. My favorite music is probably Classic Country or 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. I would have a real hard time choosing between the two. It would likely depend on my mood.
  8. I want to go to Europe one day, but it is the only real desire I have to leave the country. I have such a fascination with history and the Royal Family. #guiltypleasure. I do not know if a month would be long enough to visit!
  9. I am very patriotic. I would love to visit out East where America got its start. #oneday
  10. I love George Strait and have seen him many times in concert. I have some fantastic pictures of him, and it is one of my favorite past times. I would like to see him and Lee Ann Womack in concert together. Lee Ann has such a fantastic voice.
  11. Forrest Gump is my favorite movie of all time. I cry every time Bubba dies, like bawl. Why does he have to die?! When Jeremy and I go to Bubba Gump Shrimp, we always get all the questions right 😉
  12. I would rather wake up at 3 in the morning than stay up until midnight. Also, if I do not accomplish half of my to-do list by 10, I will probably not do anything for the rest of the day. Mainly, it is because I feel like the day over by this time. I also worked a night shift once upon a time. It didn’t last long.
  13. I have a weird obsession with office supplies, especially pens. DO NOT TAKE MY PEN. Yes, I know I have 300 of them, but I LOVE that pen. And I like fine tip pens, like 0.5 or less. Very few people understand this obsession.
  14. I cannot wear PJ’s all day. Growing up, my parents always made sure we got ready for the day. I grew up with the mindset that you never knew what was going to happen in a day, and you had to be prepared for it. I have gotten a little lax on this these days with the change in my schedule, but I still always get ready…enough…for the day. Getting ready for the day used to include putting makeup on, but now it doesn’t. I am only sure to put on mascara if someone is coming, the rest of the mascara is optional.
  15. I love to bake and cook. From my experience, it seems like people usually like one or the other. I probably have more preference to bake, but I still really like both. Also, I don’t want to pick the easy recipes. When I was in High School, I took all the “Foods” classes. When we got to pick our recipes, I would always find something complicated and convince my group to make it. My poor group, but we did some awesome things!
  16. Jeremy and I are homebodies. We are massive introverts and love the quiet to recharge. I think at one time we both loved going out, but now that we are older and wiser, we have changed our tunes. Also, because of this, we are not crazy about travel. We don’t mind it, but it is not essential to us.
  17. This one goes back to #6, but this last year I have been trying to do some mindset work. Going through everything with Adeline has changed my perspective on life, and I genuinely feel for the better. But I sincerely believe that everyone can and should work to make themselves a better version of themselves. The only person standing in your way is you. Brooke Castillo has changed my life in that regard.
  18. I love to grocery shop. Forget clothes shopping; I cannot match clothes to save my life. But now, groceries, so much FUN! Well, fun until I get to the cash register. I could and do spend hours just looking at things at the grocery store. When I was a kid, I always wanted to work at the grocery store and bag groceries. And some of my first real crushes were bag boys at the local grocery store. #lifegoals
  19. Backstreet Boys. I loved the Backstreet Boys when I was a kid. And Brian. Oh, how I loved Brian. I remember reading about the things Brian liked in a girl, and the one thing that still sticks out to me is long nails. I do not have long fingernails, and I just wanted to have long nails so that he would like me. One day, while I was watching a Backstreet Boys concert on TV, it sunk in that Brian and I would never be married. I was devastated, and I am somewhat embarrassed by telling that story. It is slightly too funny not to.
  20. I live to work not work to live. I am not sure if this is the farm kid in me or what, but it has been very hard for me not to be obsessive about my work. When I was pregnant with Adeline, my biggest fear was losing my job. Sure enough, I did, which lead to me needing to do some soul searching. It has allowed me to grow and forced me to break out of my comfort zone. As much as that can suck, there is always a positive in the negative.
